Zonama Sekot, En Route Back to the Unknown Regions, GFFA (Monday Fandom Time)

Really, Tahiri could have been annoyed that all her evacuation efforts had ended up being for nothing in the end, but she was too grateful to have everyone back to focus on that. (Maybe later, once she'd slept off the exhaustion, there'd be a little room for that.)

Not helping with the exhaustion was the sudden rush of sensing everyone through the Force again, where a week ago that sensation had been dwindling rapidly. That part she didn't mind, though; that just reinforced the sense that everything was right again -- plus she could draw on that to keep herself on her feet just a little while longer.

She got back to her little cliff dwelling after conferring with Sekot and some of the local village leaders, took a nice long bath to deal with the fact that she felt unpleasantly like the inside of a sandcrawler, then curled up on her bed with her datapad and comlink to check messages on both. Jaina's voicemail, now that she finally had a chance to listen to it, made her laugh -- and send a quick text message back to her and Ben.

I knew you'd fix this. Thanks.

Firekeeper and her other friends should get messages too, she thought, half-drifting out of consciousness, but even drawing on the Force she was too tired to manage more words than she just had. Maybe after a nap . . .

"What a terrible alternative," Tahiri said lightly. "But I guess you've been away long enough, haven't you?"

Like she was going to yell about that. The whole sense-of-duty thing was how she'd gotten herself erased from existence in the first place.

"Two months."So yeah. "I'll be back when I can, though."

"Then if I miss you, clearly, I'll just have to come back." Two months was a long time for Jaina to be away from the action (not that Fandom had been short on it, she was guessing), so Tahiri wouldn't blame her if she was climbing the walls to get home. "Thanks for helping to fix all this."

[solo_sword]

"I think thanks shouldn't be needed for this," Jaina said. "Seeing as how it was partly selfish with me not wanting to disappear myself..."

Tahiri had to take a second and think about that. "I think if we're all pretty honest about it, there's always going to be a little bit of that, isn't there?" she asked. "The second I realized I wasn't going to get to my portal, I know I was wishing I'd gone while I had the chance."

[solo_sword]

"I guess so," she said thoughtfully. "I think maybe that's survival instinct poking its head out from under us doing the right thing."

[weetuskenraider]

"Hard to do the right thing if we're not around to do it," Tahiri went on. "But this is more deep thinking than I usually like to do, so I'm just going to settle for being glad to be back."

A pause, then:

"Though this doesn't get you off the hook for that basically-family thing, just in case you were wondering."

Jaina grinned. "Who said anything about getting me off the hook?"

Also a relief. "Just making sure we're clear on that, that's all," Tahiri replied.

[solo_sword]

"We are," she assured her. "So how are things there with it all over?"

[weetuskenraider]

"Back to as close to normal as we ever get, I think," Tahiri told her. "Although I have to admit I tried to send Jacen a message asking if he remembered dating Danni at any point. I don't expect to hear back any time soon. I think he's still off on his journey."

[solo_sword]

"If your time is like mine, he'll be gone a while," Jaina said, perfectly neutral. "And he did date her. Even if I had to tell him he was."

[weetuskenraider]

"That was the impression I got," Tahiri answered, equally neutral; she knew enough about Ben's timeline to already be concerned about what Jacen was up to, but she wasn't about to voice that to his twin. "It's not a hugely pressing question, anyhow. I'm right back to having my hands full. I'm not complaining."

[solo_sword]

"And it seems like you're doing well with it," Jaina noted.

[weetuskenraider]

Yeah, excuse Tahiri for the slightly stunned pause. "Thanks," she finally said. "And I mean that whether you think it's necessary or not."

[solo_sword]

"Sometimes things like that need to be said. This was one of those times." Seeing as how Tahiri had gotten Nothinged and all.

[weetuskenraider]

Yeah, way to go, Tahiri. "Do I have to keep track of all the appropriate and inappropriate times to say these things?"

Because that was hard, and she wasn't great at the keeping track . . .

[solo_sword]

"Nah. It's pretty subjective." Which meant Jaina had no idea since she did and said what she wanted when she felt like it.

[weetuskenraider]

"Oh, good. What a pain, otherwise." And because Tahiri had to ask -- "Tell me your trip home won't be nearly as ridiculous?"

[solo_sword]

"I hope not," Jaina sighed. "I haven't booked the trip back yet but I'm hoping to leave tomorrow with no problems. And I'll probably be on Twitter either way because waiting for portals is boring."

[weetuskenraider]

"Oh, good. I'll keep an eye on that," Tahiri laughed. "If I can manage to get some time away I'll try and keep you entertained between negotiations and things."

Because they were riiiiiiiight back to those, time spent non-existent or not.

[solo_sword]

"I guess it's a good thing you're not sneaking your phone into meetings to Tweet under the table..." Jaina smiled.

[weetuskenraider]

"No worries there. Half the beings present would go thermal if I did," Tahiri assured her. "Though if you ever do that . . ."

She had no idea what she'd do in that case, really.

[solo_sword]

"I have checked my email in meetings I didn't actually need to be in," she admitted. "But never long enough to reply."

Which totally made it better.

Tahiri snickered. "Oh, well, that's all right, then. If it ever gets to that with Angry Birds, though, we'll have a problem."
