It had been just over two weeks since they'd arrived, and Tahiri was packing. Not to go back to Fandom -- not yet.

Luke was assembling a team to go back to Coruscant, now in Yuuzhan Vong hands; he'd had a vision of a powerful dark side presence there, an even more compelling reason to go than just the vague suspicion that Jacen, if he was still alive, was being held there.

It hadn't been for either one of those reasons that Tahiri had volunteered for the mission, though; she didn't flatter herself that her skills would be an asset on paper against a potentially powerful foe, and well . . . if she was really honest with herself, what she knew of Ben's world was coloring her opinion too.

But if he was alive and there, it was too much of a risk for Jaina to go, and that was what Tahiri had told her: twins being such an obsession for the Yuuzhan Vong, she'd endanger the mission if they knew she was there and tried to capture her too. They couldn't afford that. She still couldn't quite believe she'd won that argument against a Jaina who scared her the way the one in Fandom didn't (as much), or that she'd let loose with a variant on the same speech she'd given Mara, but she had, and so she was packing to head to Coruscant with Luke, Mara, the scientist Danni Quee, and members of Intelligence's Wraith Squadron.

And here she'd been thinking this trip hadn't been awkward enough.

Tahiri wondered how much time had passed in Fandom; from what little the Jaina there had told her about her own trips home, she guessed that time didn't necessarily move at the same pace. She had no idea how much longer she'd be gone or even what would happen, but for now she had a few minutes to herself. It seemed as good a time as any to put in a call or two back to Fandom, or wherever her friends were now.

She won't really give out details (so I don't joss myself) but you're welcome to have her check in with you if you like. "Hi, Savannah," Tahiri said over the sound of a transport taking off outside somewhere. "Did you get my message?"

"I did," she confirmed. "Are you all right?"

"So far," Tahiri answered. That was all you could ever really allow for with this lifestyle. "Just thought I'd use the few minutes of downtime I've gotten in two weeks to check in and say hi."

"Two weeks?" Savannah commented in surprise. "It's been two weeks for you?"

"Yeah," Tahiri said sheepishly. "Ben told me it's only been two days so far for you guys. I guess hyperspace and different galaxies do weird things to time."

"Ben's right. It's only Tuesday here." Savannah sat up, shaking her head. "The time differences always confuse me."

"This is the first time I've been home -- sort of -- since I started at Fandom," Tahiri said. "I wasn't sure if it would work the same way in my version of the galaxy as it does in Jaina's."

She picked at a stray thread on her pant cuff. "Are you having fun on the cruise?"

"For the most part," Savannah admitted. "As long as I don't think about time passing too fast for my liking then I'm enjoying myself."

"Hey, you're the one who's had two days to my two weeks," Tahiri pointed out lightly. "From where I'm sitting you've got the better deal."

"I'm sorry. I should be cheering you up," she said with a soft laugh. "Seen any interesting sights?"

"I don't need cheering up," Tahiri said hastily. "Interesting sights? A whole lot of jungle, so far. But I'm heading out in the morning for another mission."

She'd left out the freakishly tall, tattooed and mutilated alien warriors, but that wasn't the kind of interesting Savannah meant, probably.

That was exactly the kind of interesting Savannah meant, actually.

"Oh? What kind of mission?"

Somebody should probably know, just in case things had gone differently in Jaina and Ben's worlds and she didn't . . . yeah.

"There's a really powerful dark-side Force presence on another planet," Tahiri said briefly. "We're going to go check it out."

"How dangerous is it, Tahiri?"

Tahiri didn't see the point in sugar-coating it. "The world's been taken over by the enemy," she said bluntly. "Which is another problem from our possible dark-side Force user completely. It's not going to be pretty."

"And we're too far away to offer help." Savannah's voice was calmer than she felt. "You'll try to be careful?"

"Careful as I can be," Tahiri answered guardedly. Which, for a Jedi, wasn't saying much sometimes. "If it helps any, I'm going with Luke and Mara Skywalker. They've been doing this stuff since way before I was born."

She recognized the tone she sometimes used when she didn't want her friends to worry about things she was doing back home.

"I'm confident in your skills, but I'm glad you'll be with people who are -- wait. Are they related to Professor Anakin Skywalker?"

[[OOC: SP as so sleeeepy.]]

"Yeah," Tahiri said, grinning slightly. "His son -- well, a version of him -- and his wife."

She appreciated the confidence in her skills; it was more than she had.

[OOC: Um yeah. *eyes time*]

"Then you have good back up." She was confident in this as she had taken Anakin's class, finding him both powerful and scary.

"No, the backup's me," Tahiri said, a little amused and yet oddly gratified that anyone would think she was competent enough to not be the backup.

"Then they're the ones who have great back-up," Savannah said.

This was Savannah. She always believed that the back-up was for her friends and not the other way around.

"The great backup has to get a decent night's sleep before heading out," Tahiri said with a shaky laugh.

"Come back to us safe, okay? I don't think anyone wants a witch on a vengeance kick out there.'

"No vengeance," Tahiri said a little firmly, and carefully not promising anything about coming back. "If I can call again, I will, okay?"
