Tahiri laughed out loud this time. "I'll agree with the universe not being able to handle any more of you."

Ben grinned to hear that. "I've missed that laugh," he admitted.

"I've missed you making me laugh," Tahiri replied. "I'm awfully short on beings with that sense of humor around here."

"Not a lot of Yuuzhan Vong stand-up comics yet?" Ben teased.

Tahiri chuckled. "They're getting there, but I don't think most of the galaxy is ready to comprehend their sense of humor yet."

She paused.

"Yes, it does exist."

It was just . . . you know, completely foreign.

"As long as it doesn't involve rings, it's gotta be better than Karla's world's version," Ben decided.

. . . and Tahiri was just going to be over here, making a funny strangled noise.

"You're welcome," Ben said sweetly.

[weetuskenraider]

"You're lucky you're in another world," Tahiri told him, with absolutely no threat whatsoever in her voice. Affection, maybe, but no threat.

"Well, maybe, but the coffee's not as good," Ben replied.

[weetuskenraider]

"That's awful," Tahiri said, and meant it. "I don't think I can help you with that, though."

"You can bring caf when we see each other," Ben offered hopefully.

[weetuskenraider]

"All right. That's a promise," Tahiri decided. "In exchange for a trip for ice cream, maybe?"

"My treat," Ben replied, grinning.

"Fine, beat me to the offer," Tahiri pretended to complain. "It's a deal, Skywalker."

"I'll call as soon as I know when we're going," Ben promised. "It's been way too long."

"I look forward to it," Tahiri said, "and I'll make sure to be there. Say hi to Ender for me?"

"Of course," Ben said. "Is there anyone on your end I should be saying hello to for you, too?"

Tahiri had been about to say no, because it wasn't as if any of the people she knew here on Zonama Sekot would have reason to know him anyway, but.

"How about the next time I talk to your mom and dad?" she asked quietly.

There was a pause. "Yeah," Ben said softly. "You can tell them hi."

Tahiri exhaled slowly in relief. "Okay. I'll do that, then. I have to remind them not to do to you what everyone did with Anakin, anyway."

"I really appreciate that," Ben replied.

[weetuskenraider]

"I thought you might," Tahiri told him. "Hopefully someday tiny you will, too."

She couldn't help smirking for a moment. "They send holos sometimes. They're awfully cute."

Ben groaned. "Kriff, what am I doing?"
