Room 529, Friday Afternoon
This was a conversation she'd been putting off for a while, but -- especially given that yesterday had been one of the bad days -- really needed to be had, so Tahiri had handwavily called a couple of people and then gone to see about getting some snacks. Because snacks always made awkward situations slightly less so, right?
There was . . . well, okay, there was a box of cookies, one of those tins with all the different-shaped butter cookies that all tasted the same except some of them had sugar crystals on them. And a couple of pints of ice cream. That part was a given, really.
A few weeks to mull over the idea that Riina had slipped out and done something to help someone hadn't made it any less weird; maybe knowing more about that would change things. Not to mention she did owe Tara an explanation for the whole "hi, I went crazy and kind of scary on you and then didn't remember any of it" thing.
. . . maybe she should have gotten more ice cream.
[OOC: For the boy, and for Tara, and specifics of conversation resoundingly NFB, please. :)]

"Hey," Tahiri said, looking tired and a little pale when she opened the door to let him in. "Come on in -- Tara should be here soon."
Her side of the room was fairly neat, which was easy when you didn't have much in the way of possessions, and her comlink and datapad were nowhere in sight.

He was pretty much just trying to get her to smile.

Still, it seemed like the least she owed Tahiri -- and Ben -- was the whole story. She tapped lightly on the doorframe. "Tahiri?"
[OOC: Starting a new thread so I don't interrupt you guys -- let me know if you need me to delete or move this.]

How did you start a conversation like this? Sometimes she wished she had a better sense of social skills.

... she was Tara. She didn't do so well with it.
"And ice cream. We don't want it to melt, right?"

And because this was Tahiri, the occasional urge to blurt things out with no lead-in whatsoever couldn't be suppressed forever. "I meant to thank you for the flowers. And see how you were doing. It's just been, well, things have been a little crazy."

...he also took some ice cream, though.

Also because Tahiri said she first.
"I don't -- we were arguing," she admitted. "My father was trying to get me to come home, and, uh, we were talking to Illyria about -- whether he was right about something. And then you, she -- you came in. Swearing."
