weetuskenraider: (Half-Face WTF Look)
All in all, Tahiri felt satisfied with the results of today's class, although she was worried about Master Skywalker, Firekeeper, Jaina, and the others who'd gone off. She had absolute faith in them, of course, but well . . . she cared, and therefore she worried.

That was something she had practice at, of course -- she could worry about her friends and carry on with her day unimpeded, because that was just something you got good at after you'd been doing it all your life. And maybe, just maybe, she was still humming that kriffing "it's a small world" song as she paged through a small solar system's worth of files and notes from Danni Quee and Tekli.

That was, until a weird little impulse took hold of her, and she took time out of her reading to send an email that read simply:

Ben Skywalker, you had better not be doing anything unbelievably stupid right this minute!

No idea why. It wasn't even a bad feeling she had -- just a weird one.

[OOC: Establishy, but open if you want. Because I have new canon today, and I HAD TO.]

"Absolutely not," Tahiri said for the thousandth time to the monkey that kept clinging to her foot. "Can you go play somewhere else?"

The monkey seemed perfectly content to ignore the suggestion -- even with a touch of the Force behind it -- and keep snuggling her foot; apparently her toes made astral handholds. It had been at this for the past couple of hours, since she'd stretched out on her bed to read some reports from home, and it looked like it had the energy to keep it up for a while.

Tahiri eyed the monkey dubiously over the top of her datapad. "I'm not so sure you're not really part mynock."

It ignored her -- again -- and kept clinging.

"I give up," she announced, and went back to reading.

[OOC: Cracked door, open post, SP for a bit later when I head home!]

Well, one good long spar with her new lightsaber and it hadn't broken; Tahiri was counting that as a good thing. (Not that, as long as it had taken her to build, she was worried about having done a rushed job with it.)

Dinner afterward was clearly the appropriate way to celebrate the occasion, which was why she and Ben had headed up to her room with several containers of takeout and, of course, ice cream.

. . . so, basically, a typical date night for them. Fighting and food. All the elements were there!

[OOC: For the boy, as the post might indicate!]

The dream itself was no surprise; Tahiri had been having dreams like this for over two years now. The setting and the context, though -- those were new. These dreams usually took place back on Yavin 4, or on the Errant Venture,, or an asteroid in the Yag'Dhul sector, or on that worldship orbiting Myrkr.

She wasn't used to seeing that familiar lopsided grin and those blue eyes a scant meter or two across the salle here in Fandom. )

***
When she woke, smiling wistfully, Tahiri got out of bed and changed into a clean set of robes -- one of her older pairs, well-worn and comfortable even if the trousers were a bit shorter than she'd gotten used to -- before slipping out of the room and away from the dorms. She wasn't sure where she was going just yet, but something was pulling her toward the woods, and without questioning why she followed.

[OOC: 'staaaaaaablishy. Would've been up, you know, forever ago but no, my brain took a siesta.]

weetuskenraider: (I Think We Might Be Screwed)
Tahiri was slowly rearranging the room -- mostly moving furniture around a little, cleaning up the area under her bed that had started to resemble the inside of a sandcrawler, little things like that -- and had spent almost all day occupied by the task.

It finally occurred to her that she should eat, but not having anything on hand in the room it'd mean going out. Which in her case, did not involve putting on shoes, though she did head for the closet to grab her cloak first.

The problem started when she put a hand on the doorknob, turned it, heard the click of the latch -- and the door absolutely refused to budge. At all. Not even with a good hard Force shove behind it.

. . . if, at any point, her attempts to open the door involved her putting one foot on the wall for leverage and ended with her falling flat on her ass and snarling something horrifying in Yuuzhan Vong, she wasn't about to admit to it. (For the record, the window refused to cooperate either, when she entertained the notion of just jumping down from there.)

Well. Sithspit.

[OOC: Yeah, I'm pissed at canon spoilers too, so [livejournal.com profile] trickster_twin told me I could steal her idea. The door'll open from the outside, if anyone wants to come by, but Tahiri is grounded and not getting out either. *g* Look, you're lucky this post wasn't in capslock. But it's open.]

So the prom was coming up this weekend, and Warren was taking her flying tomorrow, which meant that she was looking at a busy few days coming up; for now, since she'd finished her practice for the day, Tahiri was fairly content to take it easy. "Taking it easy" happened to take the form of going through birthday messages from home on her comlink and datapad, and grinning; everyone was still busy trying to get the galaxy back into some semblance of order, but with the war over spirits seemed to be higher, and nobody looked as completely worn down. Tired, certainly, but with less to weigh them down.

A package from Tionne had arrived with a few collected bits of Yuuzhan Vong folklore for Tahiri's perusal and another couple of holodiscs of music for Firekeeper; the latter got set aside for the next time she saw Firekeeper, and the former . . . got set aside as well, for now.

It wasn't every day a girl turned seventeen, after all. Getting more in touch with part of her heritage could wait until another day.

[OOC: Wow, I haven't roomposted this girl in forever. Might as well, huh? Door is cracked, post is open, SP may ensue until I get home this evening.]

The datapad on Tahiri's lap currently displayed a map of the Outer Rim -- the Sluis sector, to be specific -- with planets color-coded according to whether they were held by the Yuuzhan Vong or the New Republic . . . no, wait, it was the Galactic Alliance now, and she wasn't sure she was thrilled about that. The notebook lying on the bed beside her held a couple of pages of scribbled notes on ideas for Flight Club, since she'd completely forgotten about it on Monday after Ben had come by to tell her where he was going.

Tahiri's attention was split between the two, but that was a completely livable kind of division; she'd be smiling at the thought if she wasn't concentrating so hard on the map on her datapad.

You'd think she was trying to plot a course into the Dagobah system or something.

[OOC: Expecting a phone call, but it's open! As is the door. I keep forgetting to mention that.]

Master Atreides's class today had been the first real test of her newly integrating personality, and Tahiri was relieved that it had gone well. There were still things she had to get used to, new reflexive reactions and thought patterns, but instead of feeling like she was at odds with herself it was more a case of trying to unlearn bad habits or adjust her way of thinking.

That wouldn't be an instant fix, but it was a hell of a lot less stressful to deal with.

After class, she headed back to her room to check her messages and get caught up on what was going on at home. She might've had a little bit of an ulterior motive there. She had an Idea.

It couldn't be that bad an idea, could it? Those had only ever been a real recipe for trouble when she'd been around Anakin.

. . . keep telling yourself that, Tahiri.

weetuskenraider: (Looking Up)
This was a conversation she'd been putting off for a while, but -- especially given that yesterday had been one of the bad days -- really needed to be had, so Tahiri had handwavily called a couple of people and then gone to see about getting some snacks. Because snacks always made awkward situations slightly less so, right?

There was . . . well, okay, there was a box of cookies, one of those tins with all the different-shaped butter cookies that all tasted the same except some of them had sugar crystals on them. And a couple of pints of ice cream. That part was a given, really.

A few weeks to mull over the idea that Riina had slipped out and done something to help someone hadn't made it any less weird; maybe knowing more about that would change things. Not to mention she did owe Tara an explanation for the whole "hi, I went crazy and kind of scary on you and then didn't remember any of it" thing.

. . . maybe she should have gotten more ice cream.

[OOC: For the boy, and for Tara, and specifics of conversation resoundingly NFB, please. :)]

It was raining syrup outside. Well, that pretty much answered the question of whether Tahiri was going anywhere today . . . or it was a convenient excuse, anyway.

She expected she'd go stir-crazy holed up in her room after a while, but even if she was feeling more stable today, Wednesday night's incident with Raven and Karla in the salle wasn't something she could just brush off. Which could have had something to do with the fact that in between the time she remembered getting agitated by Raven's offers to help her and seeing Raven and Karla recovering from a telekinetic blast that she'd apparently thrown, everything was a blur.

That was new. And not at all welcome.

Yeah. Tahiri wasn't going anywhere today.

[OOC: Which does not mean you can't bother her, so the post is open even if the door is closed and the wee Jedi is not in the best of moods. She'd been in a good mood too long, dammit. I don't think canon allows that. ETA: Aaaaaaaand let's say the details of the conversations with Ben and Karla are NFB, please? Yay crazy head!alien?]
