Tahiri opened her mouth to ask something about how much this sort of thing happened to people in Karla's world that they'd actually come up with a way to deal with it. Instead what she asked, in a cautious tone that could be a hint as to the root of the issue, was "This isn't something that's going to permanently change anything in my head, is it?"
