Tahiri, after some debate (and Dinah's persuasion), had decided that the school spring break trip sounded like it would be fun after all, even if initially the idea of being out on the water didn't seem like a good idea for a girl who'd grown up in the desert and still couldn't really swim. She was halfway under her bed, rooting around for her equipment pack, when her comlink beeped.
That was enough to catch her attention; when she got communications from home they were usually asking her for advice on how the Yuuzhan Vong thought, and any news had been vague at first, only now starting to divulge more than just the barest facts of how the war was going.
"Hey, kid," came a familiar voice that knocked Tahiri for a loop. It was less brash than she remembered, but Han as well as Leia Solo had taken a little more interest in her well-being since Anakin's death. "You feeling up to a mission?"
"A mission?" Tahiri repeated. "But --"
"We got a little invitation from Luke," he explained. "We're heading to Borleias. He said to bring you along."
Somehow, Tahiri thought But it's spring break wouldn't be an appropriate objection here, not when there was a war going on. "Okay," she said, resigned, "but if I'm going to do this, can you at least fill me in on some of what's been going on?"
Han hesitated. "You sure?"
"If you're thinking I can't handle it, I can," Tahiri said. "Just tell me, okay?"
"Yeah, okay." Han took a deep breath Tahiri could hear over the comlink and began to talk.
They'd been holding out information on her, she realized, and she was particularly glad Han was the non-Jedi of his family when, going into more detail than she'd gotten before on the fall of Coruscant, he got to the part about how Ben had been kidnapped by Kuati senator Viqi Shesh. She was lucky she didn't yell at him about how he could have let that happen, really; by that point she was under her bed again, digging out her pack, and nearly hit her head on the bedframe when that tidbit of information slipped out.
Tahiri was already cramming things into her pack by the time the conversation wound down to "There'll be a transport for you tomorrow morning your time. We'll see you then, okay, kid?"
"Yeah," she said, dropping onto the edge of her bed. "I'll be there."
"Great," said Han, and the comlink clicked off.
"Sithspawn," Tahiri grumbled. "Of all the stupid, stupid timing."
She sighed, put down the comlink, and picked up the phone to make a couple of calls.
[OOC: Establishy and details of convo NFB, but open if you want to see her before she heads off for the week. I apologize in advance for spamming your flists the next few days, but I couldn't resist doing this over spring break week. Because I am mean.]
