As decidedly less than thrilled Tahiri had been about the fact that someone had been able to pick up on her little mental friend so easily, Karla had offered her help. Riina had been pretty quiet lately -- but Tahiri didn't feel like counting on that to last. Although she wasn't holding out too much hope yet that there was actually a chance the girl she'd only just met a few days ago could do something about this problem, it definitely couldn't hurt to find out.

So with Hurley out for a few hours she'd handwavily given Karla a call, then took a seat on her bed to try and meditate for a little while. Talking about that particular experience was always unnerving, and just thinking about it now already had her on edge. Ergo, meditating. Or trying, anyway.

Tahiri was at capacity for uncomfortable memories today anyway, and needing the comfort; she stretched out on the bed next to him, close enough for contact but not too close, and linked their fingers together. "I think we owe it to Face to mock this as much as possible."

"Oh, is it the Black Bantha?" Ben asked. "That one's supposed to be really, really terrible."

"Jungle Flutes," Tahiri answered. "I'd have said that no matter which one we were watching, though."

He grinned. "You mean that Imperial propaganda isn't known for its tight plotting and great dialogue? There goes that illusion."

"Sorry to disappoint," Tahiri replied, turning her head to give him a mischievous look.

He smiled back, some of the tension easing from his eyes, and squeezed her hand. "I'll get over it some day," he assured her.

If they had a credit for every time that phrase was applicable to either of their lives . . .

"You better," she said softly. "Oh, wow, that doesn't even look real at all."

Ben scooted a little closer. "Yeah, I don't think the Emperor was physically capable of smiling."

"Propaganda." Tahiri shifted so her head was just resting against his shoulder. "Really, really awful propaganda. How did this even work?"

Ben relaxed a little, moving so his head rested on top of hers. "I have no idea. I mean, even out on Tatooine this had to seem stupid, right?"

"Probably? I didn't exactly get a whole lot of access to holos out there." Tahiri's eyes drifted shut for a moment. "Or people to talk to them about, either."

Ben began running his fingers through her hair. "And here I'd pictured the Sand People showing up in large groups in downtown Mos Eisley to catch the latest release."

"Oh, yeah." Tahiri laughed, the sound a little ragged. "That was the highlight of every weekend, you know. Stampeding banthas across the Dune Sea was worth it for things like this."

Ben smiled and sent warmth and comfort through the Force toward her. "I'm sure Face will be thrilled to know," he teased.

Tahiri relaxed noticeably and projected some of the same back to him. "That's why you never tell him this, ever. He doesn't need the ego boost."

Ben snuggled in a little closer and closed his eyes. "He's unbearable enough," he said a little sleepily.

"The galaxy can't take much more of his ego." Tahiri smothered a yawn, leaned against Ben, and grinned at the image of a young Face in the holo.

"He wasn't even that good looking," Ben said.

That...was not true.

[weetuskenraider]

"Not as good looking as you," Tahiri murmured drowsily. Wow, she was a dork when she was tired.

Ben let out a tired chuckle. "That's not true, but thanks."

She made a vague noise that was a slightly incoherent Tusken endearment, or as close to one as it got. "I don't spend half my time looking at him anyway."

"It's because he's old and far away," Ben said sleepily.

Tahiri snuggled closer for emphasis. "Also, not my boyfriend."

[momslilassassin]

"Nice to hear," Ben said, kissing the top of her head.

"Do I have to remind you every now and then?" she teased.
